Our History

Al-Joe's was founded in 1921 by Albert Huesman and Joseph Huber as a bird seed store. Al-Joe's took on pet supplies and small pets such as hamsters, birds, turtles, monkeys, and fish. Remarkably, Al-Joe's was able to survive the Great Depression in 1929-1939. In the 40's Joe Huber left the business to help with the WWII effort and Al was left to run the business. As the popularity of "victory gardens"" grew Al-Joe's took on more garden seeds and supplies. In the 1950's Paul Grollmus had married Al's daughter Carol Huesman and entered the business. Al-Joe's started to handle more power equipment and in 1966 moved to 173 N. Brookwood Avenue, the current address of Al-Joe's Pet & Garden. In the 90's Paul had retired from the business and left it to 3 of his children, Gary, Mike, and Tim. Now Al-Joe's is operated by the 3 brothers and several 4th generation family members. Al-Joe's Lawn & Garden was opened in October 2018. Al-Joe's is run by Gary Grollmus and we're excited to be able to serve the West Chester community. Al-Joe's has been in business for nearly 100 years and we hope that we can continue to be in business for another 100 years.

Al-Joe's Lawn & Garden opened it's doors in the West Chester community in 2018. We are excited to be branching out into new territory. At Al-Joe's Lawn & Garden customer service is our #1 priority. We have a knowledgeable staff with years of experience when it comes to power equipment, lawn problems, garden problems, etc. Al-Joe's Lawn & Garden is fully stocked with items from Cub Cadet, Toro, Snapper, Stihl, Worldlawn, and DR. Al-Joe's Lawn & Garden also has items like wild bird seed, lawn and garden fertilizer, pest control, grills, weed control, and much more! Please stop in at our location of 4902 Union Centre Pavilion Drive, West Chester Township OH 45069 (Next to the Antique Mall). Al-Joe's Pet & Garden is stocked with power equipment from Stihl, Echo, DR, Toro, Snapper, Simplicity, and Worldlawn. At Al-Joe's Pet & Garden we try to provide the best service possible to all of our customers. We've been in business for nearly 100 years and have earned the trust of many people in the Butler County area, we'd like to earn your trust as well. Al-Joe's Pet & Garden also has pet supplies, wild bird seed, garden supplies, flowers, mulch, propane refills, grills, weed control, pest control, and so much more! We also have a great service department where you can drop off pieces of equipment that aren't running properly (at this time we are only able to work on items that are the brands we sell).
