Description:

The MS 261 C-M gas chainsaw has all the same great features as the MS 261—low exhaust emissions, high fuel efficiency, and robust performance—but also features the advanced STIHL M-Tronic™ engine management system. The STIHL M-Tronic™ onboard microprocessor digitally monitors and automatically compensates for changes in your work conditions, including elevation, temperature, fuel quality, varying octane levels, and dirty filters. The end result is maximum performance across a wide range of cutting conditions without making any manual adjustments. The MS 261 C-M gas chainsaw also features redesigned cylinders and a slimmer, ergonomic housing for an impressive power-to-weight ratio.

Features:

STIHL® M-Tronic™ – This product features STIHL® M-Tronic™ (M), a new generation of intelligent engine management that eliminates the low and high-speed carburetor adjustment screws, compensates for a dirty air filter and changes in elevation and fuel quality for optimum engine power at all times.
Ematic™ Lubrication System – The STIHL® Ematic™ guide bar, when used with STIHL® OILOMATIC® saw chain, provides proper lubrication and reduced oil consumption compared to conventional methods. Two strategically placed ramps in the guide bar rail help contain and direct oil to the sliding faces of the bar and chain links, as well as the rivets and driver holes—reducing bar oil consumption by up to 50%.
STIHL® ElastoStart™ – The STIHL® ElastoStart™ starter handle is an exclusive STIHL® feature. This starting grip has a built-in shock absorber to reduce the effort required to pull the starter cord. It noticeably smooths out the compression forces felt during starting.
IntelliCarb™ Compensating Carburetor – The STIHL® IntelliCarb™ Compensating Carburetor automatically adjusts the air/fuel ratio as the air filter becomes restricted, maintaining proper engine RPM. It uses clean air from the filter to regulate fuel flow—unlike typical carburetors that use air from the “dirty” side.
STIHL® Quickstop® – The STIHL® Quickstop® chain brake system is designed to reduce injury risk in kickback situations. It stops chain rotation when activated by the operator’s hand or by inertia during a strong kickback—halting the chain in fractions of a second.
Bumper Spikes – Provide improved control and help prevent pull-in during cutting.
Adjustable Automatic Oiler – Allows the user to regulate lubrication to the guide bar and chain, adapting to different bar lengths and cutting conditions.
Decompression Valve – Temporarily reduces cylinder pressure to make starting easier. Opens manually and closes automatically as the engine fires.
Pre-Separation Air Filtration System – Enhances air filter efficiency by using centrifugal force to eject heavier debris before it reaches the filter, doubling the interval between cleanings.
Side-Access Chain Tensioner – Makes chain adjustments easier using a bar wrench, as opposed to the standard adjustment screw location.
Master Control Lever™ – A single lever that conveniently operates the choke, starting throttle lock, and on/off switch. Requires the throttle trigger to be pulled before shifting into the choke position.
STIHL® Anti-Vibration System – Developed by STIHL® to reduce vibration levels in handheld power equipment, minimizing operator fatigue and increasing comfort during extended use.
Toolless Fuel and Oil Caps with Retainers – Feature lift-and-twist functionality for quick removal and tightening without the need for tools.
Throttle Trigger Lock – Enhances operational safety by requiring deliberate engagement before the trigger is activated.
